Nurturing Critical Thinking & Social-Emotional Skills

We offer nurturing care based on self-discovery through science, math, language and art, and believe play-based learning is a solid path to the development of critical thinking skills.

About Us

Our school seeks to inspire young children to embrace their innate curiosity about the world around them and to experience the natural joy of exploration and play within safe, beautiful, and rich environments. Our caring and professional community of educators implement an integrated science-based curriculum that promotes independence, problem-solving skills and social-emotional competence. We work in partnership with families to lay a strong foundation for lifelong learning and lasting connections.

Our School has been caring for children in King County for over 50 years!

KCS has been nothing but amazing for our two kids, who both started in the youngest classrooms. The teachers/staff are so caring and go above and beyond to make sure each child thrives. From the healthy and diverse meals to the school's vast outdoor play space to the varying enrichment opportunities, we appreciate so many aspects of KCS and always recommend the school to our friends.

Our daughter thrives at KCS.  We feel lucky to have found a place that nurtures her connections with both teachers and peers. She has opportunities to engage in learning through both play and structured activities on a daily basis. She can’t wait to go to school each day and we are so thankful for the warm environment KCS creates not only for her, but for our whole family.

We’ve been a full-day KCS family for five years. I don’t know what we would have done without this lovely school in our neighborhood. It truly feels like part of the community. We’ve been so lucky to have loving teachers that truly care for our children and office staff that are always available if you need them. The play yards and green space are unmatched. There are days when my kids have rough drop offs which are handled delicately by their teachers, however, at the end of each day, they always want to stay longer.

Our large campus is tailored for children and their families. Classrooms and playground areas are thoughtfully designed for kids of all ages. We provide big play toys for climbing and sliding and covered sandboxes that give children many choices for where to play and explore.

Our classrooms have a very open feel with appropriately sized furniture for each age group. Our sinks and bathrooms are built just for kids to make your child feel comfortable and capable in their school surroundings. Many parents comment on how clean and well-organized our classrooms are.

Parents also like our location with easy access to I-405 and Hwy 520; they can easily travel between school, work and home.

At what age can children enroll at Kirkland Children's School?

Children one year and older can attend full or part-time through kindergarten. Students enrolled in our kindergarten can continue in our before/after school program through age 10.
